Summer 2016 Class Schedule

Summer semester runs from June 23rd to August 11th, 2016.

Classes are held every Thursday, from 10am to 2pm.

The co-op is located at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Nevada.

Hour 1 Courses

Summer Soccer SkillsAges: 4-7Instructor: Katherine MillsCost: $25.00
Kids ages 4-7 will have a great time learning the fundamentals of soccer. Dribbling, trapping, passing, and scoring will all be covered in this fun introduction to the game. Students will need to bring their own soccer ball to class.
Scratch Cooking with KidsAges: All AgesInstructor: Mollie ConnellCost: $40.00
Kids will learn how to make fun and healthy foods from scratch. Items we will be making: Ratatouille Applesauce Chicken Nuggets with BBQ Sauce Biscuits Jello Cookies Granola Pie Class cost includes ingredient costs, spiral bound cookbook and apron!

Hour 2 Courses

Weapons: Heroes and VillainsAges: 5+Instructor: Rachel LoweCost: $65.00
This summer we'll be taking a page or two from the comics and reproducing fun weapons & props from their worlds. Each week the kids will make their own project to take home, for example, Captain America's shield, Hawkeye's bow, and Spider-Man's web slinger. Ages 5+, but the younger ages will need a parent/adult to commit to staying with their child and helping full time.
Poet-tea PartyAges: 5+Instructor: Angie HancockCost: $40.00
Ready to create some fun tea party accessories while hearing hilarious and beautiful poetry? Every week we'll craft new pieces for our tea party, like center pieces and napkin holders, while hearing poetry by awesome poets like Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, Emily Dickinson, and Robert Frost. In the last class, we'll drink tea and eat fun goodies while sharing our favorite poems. Homework is required for the last class-- making yummy treats and bringing your favorite poetry to share!

Hour 3 Courses

Sensory PlayAges: 1-4Instructor: Katherine MillsCost: $20.00
Dance in a bubble storm. Paint with your toes. Or land in a pile of pillows in this messy 6 week class for little ones ages 12 months through four years. Sensory rich play is an excellent way to develop fine motor skills; problem solving, and creativity in the young child. Each week will follow a different theme. This class will be a true cooperative as families will be asked to provide one theme specific sensory activity each week. Most items should be easily found at home. The first week's theme will be "sensory centers." Please bring a tabletop small motor activity (rice and a scoop; play dough; Duplo blocks). Each class will also include finger plays and a story related to the theme.
Tie-Dye and Fabric PaintAges: 5+Instructor: Rachel LoweCost: $50.00
DIY (Design It Yourself) t-shirts! We'll learn how to do tie-dye, and also some fabric painting, puffy paint, and other embellishments. I'll come up with ideas for girls AND boys :-) For $50 shirts will be provided. You can take the class for $25 if you bring your own t-shirts each week.
